Dark Light

In January 2014, I got a call from the company I had always wished to work for; I was excited to clear the phone screenings to make my way to California for an onsite loop/interview. The loop was exhausting, but I was happy to fill every inch of whiteboard space available in the conference room. However, I wasn't selected and felt a little saddened! Nevertheless, I began to prepare even more, and I continued to apply for different jobs in my favourite company hoping for the next opportunity.

In January 2017, I got another call, and again, I did great in both rounds of the phone screening. I went to Seattle for the onsite loop. I was super excited, didn't waste a minute, and kept preparing for the upcoming loop. The loop (onsite interviews) was even harder with an increased bar but went well (is what I thought), but then I got an email after a couple of days that I didn't make it this time (again!).

I was devastated and felt low for several days in a row. And then, I stopped applying for jobs at my favourite company for years.

Then one day, I decided to start applying again, and this time, it was the month of February of 2021, and I cleared the PS rounds again and got an invite for the loop. The questions and interviews were even more challenging than the last time (higher bar than before); at times, I struggled for a few minutes, but after completing the loop, I had a different feeling this time. I was not impatient or anxious, awaiting the result. I knew the outcome would be good for me, regardless of what it was.

Within a few days, I got a call and was offered a job with the company of my dreams. I did it finally! When I looked on the job portal, I realized that I had applied for more than 110 jobs in the last seven years and had gone through three onsite loops to come here.

The company I've always wanted to work for is none other than AMAZON, and I just completed one year here, but it still feels like Day One! Now, I am helping my team hire talented builders and makers like you! If you want to join one of the several great teams at Amazon that I am part of (Amazon Go – Just Walkout Tech), please feel free to reach out to me (IM) and let's chat. We are hiring for several positions, i.e. engineers to managers, consultants, product managers, and program managers in India and the United States. I can help you define the appropriate role based on your skills/experience, explain our vision, and connect with you to prepare for the interviews.

My lesson – Unless we encourage and learn from failure, success will not be as enjoyable and lasting as you think. Don't be scared to try; either you celebrate or learn, there is nothing to lose. Let's try to fail in life and promote failure stories as well. I look forward to helping you along your journey; feel free to contact me!

Note: Here are a few pics of the recently launched Amazon Stores that are powered by the tech built by my team.
