This is a personal website. I want to be straightforward about how it works when it comes to your privacy.
The Short Version
I don’t sell your data. I don’t run ads. I don’t track you across the internet. This site exists to share ideas, not to monetize your attention. If you reach out to me, I’ll treat your information the way I’d want mine treated: with respect and common sense.
What Gets Collected and Why
If you send me a message through the contact form or chat widget, I’ll have your name, email, and whatever you wrote. I use that to reply to you, nothing more.
If you book a meeting, you’ll be using a third-party scheduling tool. Whatever information you share there is governed by their privacy policy, not mine.
If you leave a comment on a blog post, your name, email, and comment are stored. Your IP address and browser info are also logged to help catch spam, which is standard WordPress practice.
In the background, the site collects basic, anonymous usage data. Things like which pages get visited, what browsers people use, and where traffic comes from. I use Jetpack Stats for this. It helps me understand what’s resonating and what isn’t. None of this personally identifies you.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies for things like remembering your dark/light mode preference, basic analytics, and security. Nothing exotic. You can turn cookies off in your browser if you prefer. The site will still work, though some features might behave differently.
Third-Party Services
This site runs on WordPress, hosted by Bluehost (US-based). A few plugins handle things behind the scenes:
- Jetpack for anonymous site statistics (Automattic Privacy Policy)
- Wordfence for security and firewall (Wordfence Privacy Policy)
- Bluehost for hosting infrastructure (Bluehost Privacy Policy)
If I add new services in the future (like a newsletter or analytics tool), I’ll update this page.
Your Data, Your Call
If you want to know what data I have about you, want it corrected, or want it deleted, just ask. Email me at Suchayan.Mitra@gmail.com and I’ll take care of it within 30 days. No hoops, no forms to fill out.
A Note on Location
I’m based in Canada and the site is hosted in the United States. If you’re visiting from the EU or elsewhere, your data may cross borders. By using this site, you’re okay with that. I handle all data with the same care regardless of where it originates.
Kids
This site isn’t aimed at anyone under 16. If I find out I’ve accidentally collected data from a minor, I’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here with a new date. No surprises.
